Build the next cozy tool, with us.
Happy Light has a handful of apps today. We'd like it to have a lot more, and we'd like to build them with you.
- One
Share an idea
Post it on the forum: the tool you keep wishing existed, the small thing that would make your day easier. Rough is fine. Most of what's here started as someone wishing it existed.
- Two
Vote on what's next
Everyone with a free account can vote on the ideas they want most. We pick by votes, and by what fits: small, cozy, and something we can keep running well.
- Three
Build it together
We build in the open with the people who want to help: ideas, art, testing, and code.
- Four
Your name on it
When it ships, the people who helped make it are credited on the app. If your idea ships, your name ships with it.
What every app has in common.
A new tool fits in when it follows these. They're why the apps feel like they belong together.
Runs in the browser
Open a link and it works. No app to install, and no account for most tools.
Plain web tech
HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript modules. No heavy frameworks, so pages stay small and quick.
Your stuff stays yours
Your work is stored in your browser, not on our servers. Camera and microphone are read by your browser and never uploaded.
Works offline where it can
Local-first by default, and subscribers can download the apps to run on their own machine.
No ads, no trackers
Supporters pay for Happy Light, not advertisers. No analytics script ships anywhere, in any app.
Free to start
Every tool is free to use. Paid plans are a way to support the work, not a gate in front of it.
No code needed to pitch in.
Test and report bugs
Play with new tools as they land, and tell us what breaks or feels off.
Report a bugCode
Subscribers can already download the apps with their source code. A public way to contribute code is coming.
Design and pixel art
Icons, sprites, sounds, little touches. Show us on the forum what you'd make.
Spread the word
Tell a friend, share a sprite, put the arcade on the big screen at your next party.
Made by a lot of us.
From here on, every app names the people who helped make it: the idea, the art, the testing, the code. Small part or big part, it goes on the list.
