Terms of Service

These terms cover using Happy Light Development's tools and, once checkout is live, paying to support us. By using the site or making an account, you're agreeing to them.

The service, and the code

Happy Light is a set of browser apps (Journal, Pixel Studio, Sandbox, Games, Triggers and whatever we add next). Our code is source-available: subscribers can download it with the apps, which means you can read it, but a subscription is not a licence to use it commercially. Want to use it in a commercial product? Contact us at https://portal.happylight.io/contact?topic=commercial-license and we'll work out terms with you directly. There's no revenue-share or "take a cut of what you make" clause — we ask, we agree a price or a licence, and that's it.

What's free, and what a subscription pays for

Every tool works fully for free, and that isn't changing when paid plans open. A subscription pays for the things that keep the service running well — hosting, security, updates and support — not for unlocking features. Paying gets you a supporter badge, an opt-in spot on our thank-you wall, and first access to features that aren't out yet (like sync and larger game rooms) once they ship. There is no free trial for a paid plan, because the Free tier already is one: use everything for as long as you like before deciding to support us.

Plans and prices

• Free — every tool, no card needed, for as long as you like.
• Happy Light — €6/month or €60/year, VAT included.
• Founding price — the first 100 subscribers to the Happy Light plan lock in €6/€60 for as long as they keep subscribing, even if the regular price changes later.
• Supporter — a fixed monthly amount of your choice: €10, €20, €50, VAT included.

Billing and cancelling

Paid plans renew automatically — monthly or yearly, whichever you picked — until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account; cancelling stops the next renewal, but the plan you already paid for keeps working until the end of that billing period. See our withdrawal policy for your 14-day right to withdraw from a new subscription.

Acceptable use

Use Happy Light lawfully and don't try to break, resell, or abuse it — that includes reselling account access, and using Triggers' webhooks to send anything illegal, harmful or abusive. We can suspend an account that does this, and we'll tell you why if we do.

Liability

We provide Happy Light as-is, and work hard to keep it reliable, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing here limits any right that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Your consumer rights

If you're an EU consumer, these terms don't take away any right you have under EU or Dutch consumer protection law — where the two disagree, the law wins.

Changes

We may update these terms as the service grows. We'll update the date above, and tell active subscribers directly about any change that affects what they're paying for.
